SFNPCC "Walkabout - Art of Seeing" Field Trip - Gumbo Limbo Trail

  • Royal Palm Visitor's Center (map)

Hi folks, as I stated on a Facebook post in August, this is what I propose for our inaugural “walkabout - the art of seeing” field trip.

We’ll meet at the Royal Palm Visitor’s Center and go on a ‘walkabout’ through the Gumbo Limbo trail. Bring along a notebook and pen, or a note taking app on your mobile device, or if you must, record it on your camera. We’ll slowly stroll along and get inquisitive, let our minds wander and wonder. Then we’ll write down what captures our attention. Objects, shapes, textures, colors, light, transitions, layers, atmosphere etc.

The simple act of notetaking will get you more engaged with the landscape. After writing down what you notice, you may feel strong emotions with these things. Write those down too! Let your imaginations and creativity flow. These are the things YOU like; these are what elevates emotions within YOURSELF, these are things you can see on a regular basis, not only when you take a trip to an exotic location. Once you see and notice what instigates emotions within you, you’ll find your own passion in the landscape and be able to be more creative.

And then if time allows, we can photograph the sunset which sets at 7:20 pm.

Please be sure to RSVP by clicking the button below.
