Update - June 3, 2022
For those that couldn’t make the meeting, or who would like to watch the videos again, and read the entire articles about design elements, see below for all the links.
If you’d like to follow along with our June meeting, first thing you’ll need to do is read the article I paraphrased during the meeting about the basic design elements of photography. The article was by Todd Vorenkamp and was posted to the B&H website on March 7, 2021. Go to the link here to read all about it. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/explora/tag/elements-photograph
Then I recommend you watch both of Ted Forbes’ videos on composition linked below.
You can cut out figures to use on your own cardboard pieces or request them from me info@sfnpcc.org. I’ll mail the stuff to you.
Then, as indicated in Ted’s second video, pick up a book of photography or go online to your favorite photographer’s website and look for the design elements and how these photographers arrange their compositions.
Thanks for following along!
We’re doing a special 3-part composition triptych if you will. June, July, and August will be all about learning composition, the principles, and completing exercises to improve your own composition techniques.
In our June meeting, we’ll have a “hands-on” learning exercise and it’s imperative that you actually join us in person. I will have stuff to pass out to “play with”. All we ask is you have a ‘smart phone’ or something to take snapshots with to review your progress.
If you cannot join us in person, but still want to participate, I can send you instructions on how to do that, along with our “stuff”. Send me an email to info@sfnpcc.org and let me know you need the exercise package. These can be done any time.
TAKE NOTE - MEETINGS ARE NOW ON WEDNESDAYS!
Due to poor wifi connectivity at the meeting place, real-time Zoom viewing may not be possible. We’ll send a Zoom link, but just be aware it may not work. Either way, we’ll get the recording or videos of what we did and how you can replicate it after our meeting.
