Dec. 3rd Field Trip - Sunset in the Big Cypress-Kirby Storter

  • Kirby S. Storter Wayside Park 48900 Tamiami Trail East Ochopee, FL, 34141 United States (map)

Sunset over the Big Cypress Swamp. We're piggy backing our event with the 6th Annual Big Cypress Swamp Heritage Festival, which ends at 4:30. To learn more about the swamp festival, click the link below:

Sunset is at 5:30pm so we'll need to be in place and ready to shoot as soon as the festival is over. Plan to be there at least an hour before, about 4:30pm, no later than 5.

We're meeting at the Kirby S. Storter Wayside Park, addressed as 48900 Tamiami Trail E., Ochopee, FL. If the weather cooperates and you're willing, we may stick around for star trails afterwards! So if you're interested we'd love to have you.

Be sure to bring a tripod, and remote shutter release if you have one, and a wide angle lens, wide as you have. I don't anticipate the bugs being as bad as Flamingo in August, but mosquitoes do live in the swamps! Be sure to bring all the mosquito repellent you have, spray, ThermaCells, Bug Jackets/netting. Just to be safe.

Here are some suggestions for additional items to bring:

  • Water
  • Snacks
  • Sunscreen
  • Hat

Please RSVP for this field trip by sending an email to us at:  info@sfnpcc.org.

There is $10 fee for non-members to attend field trips.

Hope to see you all there!
