1/13/23 7:15PM - SORRY FOLKS - DUE TO LACK OF PARTICIPANTS, I’VE DECIDDED TO CANCEL. WE’LL MEET HERE AGAIN ANOTHER DAY. THANKS!
We’ll meet at the Dante Fascell Visitor Center (in front of the boat docks) at Biscayne National Park and go on a ‘walkabout’ on the Jetty Trail. The trail is an out and back one, approximately 0.8 of a mile long, that meanders along a mangrove-lined shore that leads to the Colonial Bird Protection Area at the end of a jetty. Here’s a link to the park’s website for more info https://www.nps.gov/bisc/planyourvisit/convoy-point-jetty-walk-self-guided.htm
Here’s a Google map link to the exact location: https://goo.gl/maps/yV3ftprbDjYqYDyc9
Bring along a notebook and pen, or download a note taking app for your mobile device, or record it on your camera or cell phone if you like. We’ll slowly stroll and get inquisitive of our surroundings, let our minds wander and wonder. Then write down or photograph what captures our attention. Objects, shapes, textures, colors, light, transitions, layers, atmosphere etc.
The simple act of noticing will get you more engaged with the landscape. After noticing, you may feel strong emotions with these things. Make a mental note of these feelings, or, write those down too! Let your imaginations and creativity flow. These are the things YOU like; these are what elevates emotions within YOURSELF, these are things you can see on a regular basis, not only when you take a trip to an exotic location. Once you see and notice what instigates emotions within you, you’ll find your own passion in the landscape and be able to be more creative.
