SFNPCC Field Trip - Spooky Cemetery

  • Cocoplum Cemetery 7220 SW 47th Ct Miami, FL 33143 (map)

We had so much fun here last year, we’re doing it again. Feel free to dress up in spooky clothing and you too can be one of our guinea pigs… I mean, models.

We’re going back to the Pinewood/Cocoplum historic cemetery. It’s a highly sensitive and protected area. We will meet at the location early to scope out a compositions. The cemetery is full of beautiful foliage so even if you’re not into spooky photography, there’s plenty here to hold your interest.

RSVP! As always, please be sure to RSVP. and let us know you’re coming.

PARKING

Parking is tight on Erwin Road and S.W. 74th Court circle, but cars can always park on the swales. Just be sure you don’t block driveways or fire hydrants and are fully off the street. The person I spoke with last year from the City of Coral Gables said the residents don’t like it, but it’s perfectly legal. If you can’t find parking there, there is public parking at Cocoplum circle, east down S.W. 72nd Street (about a half or so mile from the cemetery (and a lovely walk if I do say so). Or you can park at the public lot west of the Rivera Presbyterian Church (west of the cemetery on S.W. 72nd Street, about 3/4 of a mile).

Also, if you’re familiar with the Metrobus, bus 37 traverses S.W. 72nd Street and there’s a stop right across from both public parking areas and Erwin Road. Or maybe carpooling would be a good idea. If you have questions, see below and email us. Here’s a link to the map for the Metrobus # 37 https://www8.miamidade.gov/transit/library/routes/37.pdf
