Oil Well Park is near Immokalee, FL, which is on Hwy. 29 between I-75 (Alligator Alley) and Hwy. 41 (Tamiami Trail). Its right at the intersection of Hwy. 29 and Oil Well Park Road. We’ll get there right at sunset so its easy to find and you can get a composition in the daylight. As soon as the sun dips below the horizon enough the milky way will present itself.
Feel free to head out early to photograph the sunset from the area. Being that its so far away and possibly in unfamiliar territory, everyone may want to get there while it’s still light enough to see.

8/5/21 ***Update: There has been some talk on whether or not this field trip will happen. It is still on and we will be there barring an act of God. Only a hurricane will cancel this outing. Now, if the weather is awful, we may NOT get a milky way, but we will be photographing something. The oil well will be there come rain or shine. So if it clouds up, we'll photograph something else. If you have your heart set on the Milky Way and don't want to drive over if there's bad weather, keep an eye on the weather coming in from the gulf and make that decision before you leave. Possible other options: dramatic skies, sunset, storm clouds, long exposure clouds against the oil well. We'll get creative!
***Car Pooling: If anyone wishes to car pool with other club folks, coordinate with each other on our private Facebook group. The club will not organize rides, but you can pair up with others if you'd like. Also, If you are NOT on Facebook but would like to ride along with others, just send me an email and I'll put your name out there for others. Likewise, if you're driving and willing to transport one or more others, just post that as well.
