SFNPCC Oct. 16th Field Trip - Photographing Ghostly Images

  • Pinewood Cocoplum Cemetery 7401 Erwin Rd Coral Gables, FL, 33143 United States (map)

RSVP

Please RSVP to let me know you’re coming. The City would like a general count of how many will be in attendance. Click HERE to RSVP.

There are several entrances to the cemetery. Let’s meet at the one on Erwin Road and S.W. 74th Street intersection, that would be the west side of the cemetery. Looks like those few of us going will find places to park. See y’all there!

We’ve obtained permission from the City of Coral Gables to use the Pinewood/Cocoplum historic cemetery for our shoot. It’s a highly sensitive and protected area. We will meet at the location early to scope out a compositions.

We'll be practicing the techniques we learned about in the meeting, how to create ghostly images. We'll have a few dedicated models, and of course you can be your own model. If you'd like to be a prop in your images, please, feel free to dress the part. I think it would be fun to dress up. Full makeup and flowy outfits, ghoulish masks, period (1900's) outfits, or anything you like, (within reason of course. We don't want to upset the neighbors.)

Because we have special permission, I’m asking that only members and immediate family participate. I’m asking that everyone is on their best behavior as we don’t want to upset the neighbors or the city officials. We might want to come back again one day.

PARKING

Just heard from the City of Coral Gables, and was told parking is tight on Erwin Road and S.W. 74th Court circle, but cars can always park on the swales. Just be sure you don’t block driveways or fire hydrants and are fully off the street. She said the residents don’t like it, but it’s perfectly legal. If you can’t find parking there, there is public parking at Cocoplum circle, east down S.W. 72nd Street (about a half or so mile from the cemetery (and a lovely walk if I do say so). Or you can park at the public lot west of the Rivera Presbyterian Church (west of the cemetery on S.W. 72nd Street, about 3/4 of a mile).

Also, if you’re familiar with the Metrobus, bus 37 traverses S.W. 72nd Street and there’s a stop right across from both public parking areas and Erwin Road. Or maybe carpooling would be a good idea. If you have questions, see below and email us. Delfin will be checking out the parking on Friday in person to see what we can do. If there are any changes, I’ll let you all know here.
