FIELD TRIP WILL PROCEED AS PLANNED! SHARK VALLEY IS OPEN!
What a great time to photograph wildlife in the Everglades. Birds, alligators, turtles, etc. The gates open at 8:30am, but we recommend getting there early and waiting along the roadway. Lots of goodies to photograph there as well.
Please RSVP by clicking HERE.

Bring your long lens and perhaps a mono pod if you have one. If you want to conserve energy, your camera and a mid to long lens will be pretty much all you need. If you don’t mind carrying everything, feel free to bring everything. But you might find you’ll have little to no use for a wide angle lens. You be the judge. :)
Also, while the weather can be cool or cold in January, it can also surprise you and get hot come mid-morning. Be prepared and always have water on hand. Carry a map (or download the map to your phone when you have connections) if you’re unfamiliar. Know your surroundings if you get separated from the group. There is little to no phone service in the park. We want everyone to have fun but also be safe. And that being said, be sure to follow the CDC initiatives and wear a mask and practice social distancing. Shouldn’t be too difficult there. And heaven forbid, stay home if you are sick or feeling under the weather! Shark Valley will be there another day if you can’t attend.
This might be stating the obvious, but the park does charge an entrance fee. We always suggest getting a yearly Everglades park only pass or an America the Beautiful Park Pass as the club visits the Everglades often. See the links below to purchase online well in advance, or you can purchase one at the gate.
A 7-day park pass is $30 per vehicle. Click here to purchase online. Everglades National Park Site Pass in Florida - Recreation.gov
An Everglades-Only park pass is $55 per year. Click here to purchase online. Everglades National Park Site Pass in Florida - Recreation.gov
An all park National Park (called America the Beautiful pass) pass is $80 per year. Click the link to purchase online. America the Beautiful Passes (U.S. National Park Service) (nps.gov)
Hope to see you all there!
