We’re meeting up at the eastern point of Loop road, which is located just past Fortymile Bend on Tamiami Trail (US 41). Then we’ll travel the Loop Road around through Big Cypress, through the neighborhood of Pinecrest (not the one in South Miami), and on west and then north back up to Tamiami Trail where the old Monroe Station used to be. From there you can head further west or head back home (east). More details will come closer to the date.

LOCATION: Fortymile Bend is approximately 26 miles from the intersection of Krome Ave. on Tamiami Trail (next to Miccosukee Casino). Fortymile refers to the number of miles it is from Biscayne Bay, not Krome Ave. Turn left shortly afater the large radio tower. There is no sign saying “Loop Road”, you’ll come upon a sign “Turn on Headlights”, then a “Hwy 41 West Mile Marker 39.5” sign, then a 55 MPH speed limit sign. There you’ll see the left turn lane, and turn off is just ahead. Pull up and over near the “Entering Big Cypress National Preserve” sign or near there.
