Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park (KPPSP) is our first camp-out of 2020! (Be aware, it is NOT Lake Kissimmee State Park). KPPSP is listed as a “dark sky place” by the International Dark Sky Association. KPPSP is located approx 30 miles northwest of the city of Okeechobee and approx 50 miles east of the Sebring/Avon Park area (Yeah, it's out in the boonies). To secure the available sites, I reserved all that were available. They are in the equestrian area and they do have electricity. No water or sewer hookups, but there are pit toilets nearby and a full bathroom (with showers and flush toilets) less than a half mile into the main camping area. These sites do take RVs and trailers as well as tents. I have specific lengths for each site I booked. The smallest is 35 feet all the way up to 50 feet.

This will be a great time to photograph the night sky as the moon won't be rising until well after 4am (4:45am Sat. & 5:20am Sun.). The milky way will be rising around 1am so there will be plenty of opportunity to catch the stars before the moon rises - pending a clear sky of course. Not much I can do about that.
