Heading north to Okeechobee for the weekend to put our storm chasing skills to good use.

The area is ripe with afternoon storm clouds and with the backdrop of the wide open ranch fields and Lake Okeechobee, it’s sure to be a great time. And, if we can get the clouds to leave us after the afternoon storms, we’ll try to capture the milky way or other stars far from the city.

I stayed at the Travelodge last year and I really liked it. I’ll go there again. Comfy room, suites really, with full size refrigerators, microwave, cook-top and wet bar. But you can pick another hotel if you’d rather have nicer accommodations, or even camp! There are several campgrounds in the area. It’s up to you.
