April Field Trip - Everglades Sunrise

  • Ernest Coe Visitor's Center-Everglades 40001 State Hwy 9336 Homestead, FL, 33034 United States (map)

Slough slog has been cancelled due to lack of water. Can't really 'slog' in a cypress dome without water. So instead, Robert and friends will be leading us in a short hike to an out-of-the-way area to shoot an original sunrise.

We're meeting at 5am at the Ernest Coe Visitor's Center at the Homestead entrance of the Everglades National Park. From there we'll caravan to our spot. Should be a lot of fun and something different than what we're all used to.

Some items to bring along:

- Water
- Sturdy close toed, lace-up shoes or protective boots
- Long Pants
-Mosquito Spray/ThermaCells, bug repellent clothing, any and all bug repellent you have. There WILL be bugs.

Other items that are suggested:

- Sunscreen
- Long sleeve shirt
- Snacks
- Tripod
- Wide Angle Lens and or medium range zoom for isolating details. Whatever you normally would use for a sun event.

At 5am you may not need to pay to enter the gates, but you might too. In my experience the rangers get there at 6am. But that could change. Be prepared to pay just in case, the entrance to Everglades National Park is $25 per vehicle, which is not included as part of this field trip, nor included in your membership. Hopefully you will have purchased a National Parks or Everglades yearly pass, which both will allow you unlimited access all year long.

Please be sure to RSVP for this field trip so we leave no one behind info@sfnpcc.org.

We look forward to seeing you there!
