Come Meet Us
Now here’s a Friday the Thirteenth to celebrate. We don’t let superstition stand in the way of fun. Put the date on your calendar and come join the annual Celebration of the Arts to showcase arts and culture in our area. Homestead Center for the Arts (HCA) is an umbrella group that brings together almost two dozen member organizations dedicated to the richness of our arts and culture. Do you have a yearning to start writing that book? Do you love music and painting? Is the theater or dance an interest? Do you want to learn more about photography? Do you love local history? Are you intrigued with the art of woodturning? Are you ready to try your hand at growing orchids? If you answered Yes to any of these, come to the Courtyard Marriott, 2905 NE 9th St., Homestead, FL 33033, from 5:30-7:30, May 13, 2016, to meet fascinating people who share these interests. Several individuals will also be recognized in a short ceremony at 6:30 for their role in promoting our local arts and culture. Alligator Tales, a delightful anthology, was published last year by members of the Lamplighters Writers Group. At least one or two of the authors will be on hand to talk about it.
The schedule for the 2016-2017 Community Concert Series will be available, the Camera Club is having fun tromping in the two national parks, members of the East Everglades Orchids Society are always happy to discuss their experience with newcomers, and summer dance sessions are coming up. Join us on May 13th and learn about the range of groups you can be a part of right here in and around Homestead. Indeed, the mix of interests of HCA is broad with something for almost everyone. Among current affiliate members are the Children’s Art Gallery, Art for Good, East Everglades Orchids Society, Entre Nosotras, Expressions Dance Company, Homestead City Ballet, Homestead Community Concerts, Homestead Town Hall Museum, the Lamplighters Writers Group, Main Street Homestead, the Miami-Dade College Art Department, Pioneer Museum, the Seminole Theater, South Dade Community Choir, South Florida National Parks Camera Club, South Florida Woodturners Guild, and What If Works Theater.
The cost is $10 per ticket that will include light refreshments and door prizes. A cash bar will be available. Reservations are required, but you can either fill out a reservation form below or call Barbara Millenbruch, Tel: 305 230-9185.
