Here’s looking towards a better May!I was looking at my header for last month’s newsletter about how I loved March and April in south Florida. We may have had good weather, but bad luck with our schedule this past month. I’m actually surprised I was able to squeeze in the PhotoFinish on the 1st (almost didn’t)! What happened in April? Better question-“what DIDN’T happen!” 😂 First off, I went on a vacation, that’s part of what happened. Work, the stress of planning and packing for the trip, getting my slate cleaned ahead of said trip, just didn’t afford me the time to prepare for the meeting. Life seems to pile up for me before trips. Thankfully we don’t have any night sky events coming up this month so it wasn’t a total loss. I had a great vacation though. The Smokies always deliver. Then, poor Delfin caught a bug so we had to postpone the FrameIt a week. And then… in the early morning hours before our sunrise field trip, I woke up sick. I didn’t cancel, just didn’t go; my presence wasn’t necessary for this field trip. But the folks who went saw some fantastic sunrise conditions! So, that’s our month in a nutshell. Read on for some future changes. As always, the two meetings we DID record have been posted on the individual website event pages, as well as in our “members only” section. So if you missed anything, be sure to watch the replay! 😁 In hindsight, and foresight of the things to come this summer, I’ve decided to cut back on my PhotoFinish meetings. So the May, July, and August PhotoFinishes are no more. But the June PhotoFinish I’ll keep on the calendar. The June PhotoFinish and Field Trip are 2 parts of a series, where we’ll learn how to assemble multiple exposure blends (exposure blending, focus stacking, High Dynamic Range (HDR), panoramas, etc.) and the field trip I’ll show you how to actually SHOOT the aforementioned photos so you have the best results. Should be a fun month. But lets get through May, shall we? 🤗 ————————————————————————————— SPRING 4 FOR 4 PHOTO CHALLENGE!We’re in the final month for the SPRING 4 for 4 challenge! Have you started yet? No worries if you didn’t. Plenty of time. This challenge is to pick a subject or scene and photograph it with 4 considerably different focal lengths (by considerable, I mean more than 20mm difference). The images will be due June 5th, so still quite a lot of time to participate. Go out and have some fun! My suggestion, whenever you go out to photograph the things that you love, take a few extra minutes and try the challenge on whatever it is you’re photographing. Shouldn’t take more than a couple minutes to change your focal length and collect a few more images. 😉 I encourage you to send in multiple collections if you have them. This second quarterly “spring” challenge started on March 1st and ends June 6th. Looking forward to seeing everyone’s images!
