HAPPY DECEMBER EVERYONE!

Hope everyone had a great November! Our very first event, the sunrise field trip at Bill Baggs Cape Florida lighthouse was a great success! Thanks to everyone who invited their friends to come along. It was a beautiful morning and so peaceful. Experiences like that, I can see returning there again soon!

The PhotoFinish presentation went surprisingly well. Thanks to all who attended. We went over the new plugin from David Kingham called “Rethink Landscape”. David was nice enough to extend his introductory pricing to our club. Our meeting about composition went fairly well. We always seem to have a few hiccups with the Zoom integration. Hopefully this new system we’ll get comfortable with soon. 

The FrameIt for Thanksgiving was fun! Lots of interesting photos. Love the candid shots. (FYI, FrameIt is taking a break for December but will be back in January!)

2026!

Just an FYI, we’ve been working hard behind the scenes and have a great lineup for you all in 2026! Still working on some of the details, but the dates and times are on the calendar for the first 6 months of 2026 and most of the last 6 months are there as well, just a few need to be filled in. Big thanks to all the officers and directors for their help and guidance. It takes a village!

NEW PHOTO CHALLENGE FOR 2026!

Also in 2026 - a new photo challenge! I’ll be revealing all the details sometime this month when I get all my thoughts on paper, but this challenge is actually quarterly challenge”s” (so four of them) that we’ll incorporate into our meetings quarterly. March, June, September, and December will be our challenge discussion meetings. I’ve been thinking of ways to make our meetings more interactive and this might be a good way to try it. These won’t be critiques, but rather reviews and discussions on the different tasks required to complete each challenge, and when and how each of the tasks are useful. You’ll understand more once the reveal is announced. Hopefully by the 2nd week of December. This will be so much fun!

The year end print and digital image judging is underway! 

Membership in SFNPCC automatically gets you membership in the FCCC. All you need to do is register HERE - and be sure to choose the South Florida National Park Camera Club from their drop-down menu for free membership. There are many opportunities to be had by registering, including:

• Three Digital and three Print competitions per year, up to four images per competition

• Images/prints winning ribbons in the tri-annual competitions are automatically included in a year end competitions

I’ll be renewing everyone with the FNPA shortly. When complete, new FNPA membership cards will be hand delivered or mailed out to you.

Have you submitted your November images yet? Please send them when you get a chance. 

December photos must be taken between Dec. 1st and Dec. 31st. Submit the finished photo(s) by January 7th. 

WOW! Can you believe we’re nearly finished with the 12-Months of Everglades?! To everyone who participated each month, a big round of applause. I know it wasn’t easy. I couldn’t do it. As soon as the year is up, the board will gather and discuss our options, then we’ll get together with all the participants and decide on a course of action. So proud of everyone! (And keep your eyes open for a new photo challenge for 2026!)

WED. DECEMBER 10TH - MEETING

Tonight we’re having a roundtable discussion about the upcoming year and then we’ll have a slideshow of all the images submitted for the 12-Months of Everglades project. Should be a fun evening.

Join us in person or via Zoom. Meeting begins at 6pm, and finishes around 7:30. Afterward we can meet outside in the patio where we can enjoy one another’s company.  

This IS a hybrid meeting, meaning we’ll be meeting in person as well as doing a live broadcast via Zoom. Zoom will also be recorded and uploaded to our website.

Zoom meeting is set up from the library. Click the link ABOVE and there will be a button to register with them and they’ll send the link to the Zoom presentation.
