HAPPY SEPTEMBER!

Ohhh yes! Autumn is in the air; can you feel the chill? No? Maybe I’m standing too close to the AC vents… 😂 Oh well. We’re in the final month of summer, and to us in South Florida, all that means is the days are getting shorter. No more Friday after-work trips to the Everglades as it will be dark by the time I get there. 😥 But, not to fret; cooler and less buggy days will be here soon! 

August was interesting. We started with our PhotoFinish where I presented different photo planning websites. Hope it opened your mind to new and interesting ways to plan photo outings (or how to waste time exploring the possibilities 😁). If you missed it, you can watch the replay HERE or HERE. Next we had our sunset/moonrise and moonlit landscape field trip, but all we got was a big old thunder/rainstorm! (Where were those when we needed them in June?!) Neither the sun nor the moon made an appearance, but we did get some pretty dramatic skies up till the rain started. Then we had our meeting, “More Than A Sun”, where I talked about the different types of natural light and how to photograph each. If you missed it, you can watch a replay HERE or HERE. And lastly, we had our popular FrameIt! where we looked at churches! Many many churches from all over the globe. And if you missed that, you can watch the replay HERE. 

I sure hope you can join us for all of our activities this month. For the most part, it’s all about architecture. Hugh will be talking about architectural photography as fine art during our monthly meeting, then we’ll go on a downtown Miami City Walk for our field trip, and our FrameIt! will be all about architecture. The only outlier is PhotoFinish, where well go over all the other Lightroom Modules that most people ignore. Should be a great month. Hope to see you at our events!

Are you all aware that membership in our SFNPCC club automatically gets you membership in the FCCC? Yes indeedy! All you need to do is register HERE - and be sure to choose the South Florida National Park Camera Club from their drop-down menu for free membership. There are many opportunities to be had by registering, including:

• Three Digital and three Print competitions per year, up to four images per competition

• Images/prints winning ribbons in the tri-annual competitions are automatically included in a year end competitions

• Free personal Competition Gallery showing all entered images

• Free web link to their personal non-commercial website on our “Members Website” page

• Members receive reduced registration fees and other benefits at our conventions

• Access to our Discussion Forums

Many members in the past have entered into their tri-annual competitions and it’s a great way to get your images in front of judges, if you so choose. I’m sure you’ll find something in there that will appeal to you!

WED. SEPTEMBER 3RD - PHOTOFINISH

Tonight, we’ll go beyond Lightroom’s Library and Develop modules and see what the lesser used modules look like. There’s so much more to Lightroom than cataloging and editing. This should be a fun one!

WED. SEPTEMBER 10TH - MEETING

Tonight, join Hugh Hudson as he discusses fine art architectural photography. This will go well with our upcoming field trip to Downtown Miami for our city walk. Be sure to take notes!

Join us in person or via Zoom. Meeting begins at 6pm, and finishes around 7:30. Afterward we can meet outside in the patio where we can enjoy one another’s company as long we like.  

This IS a hybrid meeting, meaning we’ll be meeting in person as well as doing a live broadcast via Zoom. Zoom will also be recorded and uploaded to our website.

To piggy-back off of this month’s meeting, September’s theme is “architecture”.  

Remember, you don’t need to submit images to attend the FrameIt! Nor is it mandatory to attend if you have submitted images. These Zoom’s will be recorded and uploaded to our website shortly after.

Email us your images by clicking the yellow button below. Be sure to resize them upon export to 2500 pixels on the long edge, so we can see them on the screen.
